Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has strongly condemned Russia for launching a ruthless ‘double-tap’ missile strike on rescuers, threatening retaliatory actions. The attack by Vladimir Putin’s forces targeted a gas production facility in Poltava, eastern Ukraine, triggering a massive fire and striking again when emergency services arrived, resulting in the deaths of five individuals, including two rescuers.
Zelensky expressed outrage over the incident, emphasizing the urgent need for peace and genuine efforts to end the conflict. He warned that Ukraine would respond in kind to any aggression. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine condemned the deliberate targeting of life-saving personnel and vowed to document all Russian war crimes.
Reports indicate that Russia launched 11 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 164 drones, with most threats intercepted by Ukrainian air defenses. The Russian strikes were believed to be in retaliation for an earlier Ukrainian missile attack on a Moscow apartment building. As Ukraine braces for potential further attacks, Russia is reportedly facing challenges in showcasing its military might at the upcoming Victory Parade Day due to resource depletion from the Ukraine conflict.
Amid preparations for the Victory Day parade in Moscow, Russia is reportedly withdrawing combat-capable soldiers from frontline positions to participate in rehearsals, impacting operational efficiency. Experienced personnel are being reassigned to parade duties, while less seasoned troops are now holding frontline positions. Security measures have been heightened to prevent potential large-scale assaults by Ukraine during the event.
Recent attacks across Ukraine resulted in casualties and property damage in various regions, prompting local authorities to address the escalating violence. The situation remains tense as both countries navigate ongoing tensions and the threat of further military confrontations.
