Two individuals lost their lives in a shopping center in the United States, causing a sense of disbelief in the local community. An incident occurred where a man opened fire on five people following a meeting at a complex located north of Dallas in Texas, as reported by the authorities. Chief Roberto Arredondo of the Carrollton Police mentioned that the perpetrator was acquainted with the victims.
Arredondo stated, “It was a known business relationship. We’re still trying to determine the motive behind his actions.” The suspect, Seung Han Ho, aged 69, was apprehended after a brief pursuit by law enforcement, about four miles away at a grocery store.
Upon investigating a nearby apartment complex where Ho was listed as a recent resident, neighbors claimed they were unfamiliar with the individual. While three additional individuals sustained injuries during the shooting, they are reported to be in stable condition according to the police.
Following the incident, armed officers and FBI agents joined law enforcement in gathering evidence in the parking lot. Carrollton, situated 20 miles north of Dallas, is home to over 4,000 people of Korean descent, as per the US Census Bureau.
John Jun, an active member of the Korean American community, expressed, “We’re shocked. We’re not immune to something like this happening, but we are very generally a peaceful community that works hard.” The city hosts various Korean churches, ranging from Baptist to Presbyterian denominations.
Over the past two decades, Carrollton has evolved into a vibrant Koreatown within the metro Dallas area. This district features prominent businesses like H Mart and numerous eateries offering a variety of Korean cuisine, including dishes such as Korean fried chicken and shaved ice desserts.
