A tragic incident occurred in south-east Brazil as a small airplane crashed into a building, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to three others. The crash took place in Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais state. Shocking images depict the aftermath of the crash involving a single-engine, six-seat aircraft.
The pilot and co-pilot lost their lives in the crash, while three passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Joao XXIII Hospital, as confirmed by local authorities. The aircraft, en route to Sao Paulo, had departed from Pampulha Airport in Belo Horizonte. Eyewitnesses reported that the plane flew at a low altitude before colliding with a three-story building in the Silveira neighborhood.
Concerned residents near the crash site described the alarming sight of the aircraft flying unusually low. One witness, Fabiana Parreiras, shared her experience of hearing the plane pass by closely before the tragic event unfolded. Another resident, Guilherme Lima, who was in a virtual meeting during the crash, only realized the incident when his dog started behaving anxiously.
According to reports, the pilot had signaled air traffic control about encountering difficulties during take-off. The plane involved was an Embraer EMB-721C model manufactured in 1979, registered to Flavio Loureiro Salgueiro. Brazilian authorities, including the Air Force and Civil Police, have initiated investigations to determine the cause of the crash.
