Budget airline passengers face uncertainties when packing for their flights due to fluctuating baggage rules. Stay informed about the latest luggage regulations to avoid unexpected charges at the airport.
Beyond size and weight, luggage restrictions encompass more details than many travelers realize. Smart bags with built-in batteries and USB ports are not allowed in the hold on various airlines, including Ryanair.
For Ryanair flights, smart bags must have their batteries removed before being checked into the hold. The lithium battery must remain in the cabin, meeting specific capacity limits. If the battery cannot be detached, the bag is not permitted as checked baggage.
Ryanair has updated its policy regarding free under-seat bags, allowing them to be 20% larger than before. These bags can now measure up to 40x30x20cm, with no weight restrictions but must be manageable for passengers to carry onboard.
In a forthcoming change, Ryanair will extend the airport check-in and bag drop closure time from 40 to 60 minutes before departure. This adjustment aims to ease passenger flow through security and passport checks, especially during peak travel periods.
On a lighter note, Ryanair humorously suggested on its Facebook page the concept of charging talkative passengers on early morning flights to prevent disturbances to other travelers.
