Fans eagerly anticipate the start of Wimbledon 2026, with the first matches set for Monday. Florence Chan, an avid supporter from Hong Kong, arrived at the venue early on Saturday at 7:30 am to secure a spot to watch her favorite player, Novak Djokovic.
Despite the early start, Djokovic is not scheduled to play until after 4 pm, facing Wu Yibing of China in his opening match. Chan, who had a decent queue number last year, was determined to improve her position and succeeded in obtaining the earliest number this time.
The weather on Saturday was hot, reaching 30 degrees, as fans camped out in tents near the All England Club. Fortunately, Sunday brought cooler temperatures, offering more comfortable conditions for those entering the grounds on Monday.
Chan, who has attended the US Open previously, reminisced about paying $500 to watch Djokovic there. However, her tradition of queuing at Wimbledon continues, and this year she is accompanied by friends she met in the queue last year.
Excitement fills the air for Monday’s matches, including Djokovic’s quest for an eighth Wimbledon title. Despite a disappointing early exit at the French Open, Djokovic is optimistic about his chances at Wimbledon, aiming for a successful tournament.
As the tournament kicks off, fans like Chan eagerly await thrilling matches and unforgettable moments at Wimbledon 2026.
