After its announcement last month, Apple has officially made iOS 27 available for testing by select users. The intelligent assistant from Apple has received criticism in the past, but iOS 27 promises improvements for users who enjoy interacting with this AI companion on their devices. Siri in iOS 27 boasts enhanced capabilities in retrieving information, responding to messages, and handling complex requests. It can assist in organizing calendars, creating to-do lists, and aiding in travel planning. Users can ask Siri questions like, “What is my mom’s flight schedule today?” or “When should I leave to reach Bristol?” and expect detailed responses.
A new Visual Intelligence feature is being integrated directly into the Camera app, enabling users to receive instant information by pointing their iPhone at objects. Another reason to upgrade to iOS 27 is the promised speed improvements, especially for older iPhone models. Apple claims that iOS 27 delivers noticeable performance enhancements across its iPhone lineup, with the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 series experiencing the most significant boosts. Faster app launches, quicker photo loading in the library, and up to 80% faster AirDrop transfers are highlighted improvements.
Users dissatisfied with the Liquid Glass design of previous models can now utilize a new transparency slider to customize the interface appearance according to their preferences, ranging from crystal clear to deeply tinted.
Additional updates include refreshed app icons and a set of enhanced photo-editing tools, including Spatial Reframing, allowing users to adjust subjects’ positions in photos long after the initial capture.
iOS 27 also focuses on improved connectivity, ensuring seamless transitions between Wi-Fi and 4G or 5G networks for uninterrupted internet access, particularly when moving between different network types.
Furthermore, AirPods users will have more control over their audio experience with the introduction of a new AirPods Custom EQ feature. This feature enables users to fine-tune bass, mid-range, and treble levels to suit their individual preferences.
