Eager to explore the renowned enterprise of Jeremy Clarkson, I recently ventured to his Diddly Squat Farm Shop located at The Farmer’s Dog in the Cotswolds. The experience was quite different from what I had anticipated.
Since Clarkson’s venture into farming in the Cotswolds was showcased on his popular series, “Clarkson’s Farm,” my interest was piqued. Not being a die-hard Top Gear fan, I was drawn in by the challenges faced by Clarkson and his interactions with fellow farmer Kaleb Cooper, along with the engaging characters on the show.
During my weekend trip to the Cotswolds, a visit to the Diddly Squat Farm Shop was a priority. While the main shop is in Chipping Norton, another branch is in Burford, where The Farmer’s Dog, Clarkson’s pub and restaurant, are also situated. The place was bustling with visitors, many of whom were fans eager to immerse themselves in the Clarkson farm experience.
Upon arriving at the location, I was surprised by the crowded car park on a gloomy Saturday afternoon in May. The site was teeming with Clarkson’s farm enthusiasts, carrying Hawkstone’s beer and various Clarkson merchandise.
The expansive grounds offered more than expected, with additional attractions like The Farmer’s Dough food van serving pizzas and two bars pouring Clarkson’s Hawkstone beer. The presence of The Grand Tour tent, as seen on the show, added to the excitement of the visit.
Inside the tent, I discovered a wide array of merchandise at Hops & Chops, including items like t-shirts, caps, mugs, and the signature Hawkstone beer. The adjacent Diddly Squat Farm Shop stocked fresh produce, spirits, books, clothing, and unique items like the ‘This smells like my boll**ks’ candle under Clarkson’s brand.
Clarkson has successfully created a welcoming environment at the site, offering ample outdoor space with scenic views for visitors to relax and enjoy a Hawkstone beer. The well-equipped pub garden, complete with traditional pub games like Aunt Sally, provided a pleasant experience for guests.
During my stay, I sampled the Hawkstone’s IPA and was impressed by its quality. The diverse bar menu also featured other beverage options, reflecting Clarkson’s attention to detail and commitment to providing a memorable experience for visitors.
What started as a quick browse at the farm shop turned into a leisurely few hours spent exploring the various offerings. The inviting atmosphere and range of activities ensured a memorable visit to Clarkson’s farm.
