A man named Asad Hussain, also known as Ash Hussain, has been convicted of a disturbing case involving the creation of a fake Tinder profile using images of his ex-girlfriend. This fraudulent profile was used to entice men to her residence with harmful intentions.
The Cheshire Police disclosed that multiple men arrived at the woman’s home in 2024, claiming she had matched with them on Tinder and invited them over. Some of these men reported receiving messages suggesting violent acts, including ‘rape fantasy’ and being ‘roughed up’, with implications that refusal meant a desire for more aggression.
In reality, Hussain had set up the fake profile, sharing the woman’s contact details with at least 18 individuals and encouraging them to visit her. He was found guilty of stalking, assault, and failure to comply with a legal notice demanding access to his electronic devices.
The court heard that Hussain initially approached the victim under a false identity on social media and became increasingly controlling during their relationship. Following their breakup, he falsely accused her of infidelity and made persistent efforts to reconcile, which were rejected.
Subsequently, men started showing up at the victim’s home, claiming she had invited them through Tinder. Some of them received messages indicating violent intentions from the fake profile. The police investigation revealed that Hussain had taken elaborate measures to conceal his identity, including using different mobile phones and altering his vehicle’s registration.
Hussain was apprehended in 2024 after police traced his movements to the victim’s area during the active periods of the fake Tinder accounts. Despite his denials, evidence confirmed his involvement in the deceptive activities. He was found guilty after a trial and is awaiting sentencing.
The investigating officer emphasized the severe impact of Hussain’s actions on the victim and her family, praising their courage throughout the ordeal. He encouraged other potential victims to come forward and seek help from the authorities.
The sentencing for Hussain is scheduled for a later date.
